Everyone enjoyed their menu selections and were delighted that the chef came out personally to introduce himself and check on his guests. From the very beginning of our planning, Ann bent over backwards to accommodate our needs and was attentive to every detail. In the end, you all served us when you are normally closed. The cheerful staff never let on that this was their day off! This event was of particular importance to our team because it was our first party together since COVID-19 hit. The venue, the food, the servers, the chef, and our event planner, Ann, are to be applauded for making that evening so special. We will definitely be back!

Private Event Room Space

FoodSmith’s private event room accommodates up to 36-40 guests for a seated event and up to 50 guests for receptions.

Seating and tables can be configured in a variety of formats to accommodate your party; we’ll work with you to determine the best set up for your group.

Please note that for the majority of functions, the private event room is set with our modern large wood rectangle tables, which seat 6-8 guests. These tables look lovely as they are; we are unable to provide linens for these tables. We do, however, use linens for buffet tables if applicable for your function.


Reservation, Rates and Payment

Food and beverage minimum order applies to event bookings, not inclusive of taxes, gratuities or other fees.

A non-refundable deposit/room rental fee is due at the time of confirming your event based on your final menu estimate and accompanying arrangements. The deposit will be applied to the final total at the completion of your event. Please use the form above to message us and we’ll get back to you with deposit and other details.

Final reservation and confirmation of your private event is only complete once a deposit is received.

Estimates for events are estimates only and may fluctuate up or down based on final guest count, menu changes, labor or other requirements. 

State of MN sales tax for food (currently set at 7.625%) and for liquor (currently set at 10.125%), plus a 20% service fee will be applied to applicable costs.  

If you or your organization is tax exempt, we must receive your certificate of exemption prior to the day of the event. If we do not receive evidence of the exemption certificate by, or on, the day of your event, we will include the taxes on your final bill. Taxes may not be refunded after payment for the event.

Total final payments for all private events are to be paid upon the completion of the event. Final payment may be split up to 4 ways only (4 split checks). 

FoodSmith accepts all forms of credit cards and cash. We do not accept gift cards, checks or other forms of payment for private events.


Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your event for any reason, please notify us at least five (5) calendar days in advance for full refund of your deposit.

Should you need to cancel your event inside of five (5) days before the event, FoodSmith will retain your deposit. This includes weather-related cancellations. 

Due to our need to procure goods, services and labor for your event, cancellations within forty-eight (48) hours of the event may result in being fully charged based on the food and beverage estimate for the number of agreed upon guests. This includes weather-related cancellations.  


Guest Count Guarantee

Provide your final guest count no later than five (5) calendar days prior to the event.  

Notify us with any last-minute guest count increases or decreases within 48 hours of the start of the event so that we may adjust resources (staff, food, beverage) accordingly. 

If additional guests are in attendance on the day of the event, we will add any additional food and beverage charges accordingly.  

If fewer guests than agreed to are in attendance on the day of the event, and no prior notification was provided to us within 48 hours of the start of the event, you will be charged the minimum amount the event would have cost if all guests originally planned would have been in attendance.   


Hold Harmless

FoodSmith owners, staff and business affiliates are not responsible for any loss, damage or legal liability incurred as a result of action by you or a member of your party during your scheduled group function.  

Each member of your party is solely responsible for his or her actions during your scheduled group function. 


Decorations

Party and room decorations must be limited to those items that can be easily cleaned up with a vacuum or broom.

Glitter, confetti or other party paper or favors that create additional cleanup are not permitted. 

Items may not be taped to the walls, ceilings, tables or chairs.


Menus and Ordering

Please email us to discuss the details of your event and we’ll work with you to develop a menu based on our current/seasonal main dining room menu.

Cooked or raw food from other restaurants, dining establishments, grocery stores, food vendors, or households is not permitted.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages brought in from outside are not permitted.

Self-service bars (e.g., Mimosa Bars, Bloody Mary Bars, etc.) are not permitted. All beverages must be served by FoodSmith staff.

Baked items or desserts (e.g., cupcakes or cakes) from other establishments are allowed as long as it is from a licensed bakery or licensed food business. Home-baked food and desserts are not permitted. FoodSmith may charge a cake cutting, service or dishwashing fee for any baked goods brought in.


Live Music, Audio & Visual Equipment

The party room is equipped with one large 53” television that can be paired with smart phones that have wifi casting capability, or laptops that are equipped with an HDMI input.

The party room has three overhead audio speakers for streamed music that is shared with our main dining room. However, the room is not equipped with a separate sound system (e.g., microphones, speakers, amp, etc.).

Depending on the day and time of your event, live DJs may or may not be possible. While our party space is visually private, it is not 100% sound-proof. Please reach out to us with details of your event and we can provide additional information regarding live music.
